| THE UNKNOWN Still unable to spot whatever it was inside the train I came up with a brainstorm of an idea. To this day I don't believe what I did but yes, I did it. Telling the conductor to key open one of the closed doors so that I would be able to enter I prepared myself to go in. Pulling on my gloves was step one. Getting a good firm grip on my stick was step two. I'm ready. I tell the conductor to open the door and leave it open. I'll make my way inside to check out the condition. My last words to him were, "Do not close this door, I may need to get out fast, understand!" Telling me he understood, that he wouldn't close the door, the conductor stood ready. "Ok open it," I said. With a quick turn of his key the door slid open. Slowly I stepped inside, looking for any sign of movement. Giving the conductor a look of reassurance I started to move forward. Heart pumping a mile a minute, I'm wide eyed on the alert for my prey. Then I saw it, a long narrow tail sticking out from the corner of the last seat. "What kind of tail is that?" I think, "It's not a dog, what is it?..." |
